3SUN–ASP Catania: A Memorandum of Understanding to Promote Health and Safety at Work

The energy transition is not driven by industrial innovation alone, but also by the daily care of the people who make it happen on the ground. For this reason, at the end of 2025 we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Provincial Health Authority (Azienda Sanitaria Provinciale, ASP) of Catania, with the aim of creating workplaces where safety, prevention, and well-being are essential.

Framework and Areas of Action

The agreement falls under Programme PP03, “Workplaces that Promote Health,” included in the Regional Prevention Plan 2020–2025. The goal is to reduce major risk factors and prevent chronic non‑communicable diseases through practical initiatives and awareness activities, helping to bring a culture of health into everyone’s daily life.

The Protocol follows the Total Worker Health (TWH) approach, which combines safety protection with health promotion. Physical and mental well-being, in fact, also depends on the work environment and organisational practices. Planned actions include:

·       promotion of physical activity and sustainable mobility

·       encouragement of healthy eating habits

·       initiatives to counter smoking, sedentary lifestyles, and alcohol abuse

·       programs supporting mental well-being and stress management

·       improvements in ergonomics and safety.

A Coordinate Programme by ASP Catania and 3SUN

To improve people’s health, a set of initiatives will be implemented across different areas of physical and mental well-being.

These activities will be outlined in an annual plan drafted by ASP Catania, working closely with the Health, Safety, Quality and Security function at 3SUN, led by Pamela Pirrone, to monitor progress and results. The goal is to promote workplace health by consolidating a WHP (Workplace Health Promotion) model.

Prevention and Well-Being: Our Ongoing Commitment

Through structured and measurable initiatives—such as the Memorandum of Understanding signed with ASP Catania—we strengthen an approach to well‑being based on prevention, awareness, and shared responsibility. Our aim is to foster a culture built on listening, active participation, and concrete best practices that positively impact everyday work life. A journey that puts people at the center, values collaboration with the local community, and helps generate long‑lasting benefits both inside and outside the company.
